Drivers Primed for Lightning Season

With 14 Everyday Finance Solutions Club Championship rounds and multiple blue-ribbon events on the calendar, the 2018-19 season is gearing up to be a big one for the Queensland Lightning Sprints Racing Association, whose schedule will be spread across three different tracks.

Hoping to attract up to 15 cars at each race meeting throughout the season, 2018-19 will no doubt produce consistently competitive action, with the return of the hotly-contested Silver Cup, which consists of an exciting twin feature format, along with the Queensland Title, both of which were won by Keith Blatch last season.

The season will also be bolstered by the Australian Title, which is confirmed to take place in Queensland with dates yet to be finalised. With NSW-based racer Chris Davis taking out last season’s crown after a stellar performance at Tamworth’s Oakburn Park Raceway, the Queensland contingent will certainly be hoping to utilise their home-state advantage in this season’s running of the event in order to steal the mantle.

Set to commence at Kingaroy Speedway, the 2018-19 season will get underway this Saturday night with the opening Everyday Finance Solutions Club Championship round, which will be the drivers’ only chance to get some laps in at the track prior to the Queensland Title in December.

Heading this Saturday night’s line up as a strong favourite will be current and two-time Queensland Champion Blatch, who placed second to youngster Aaron Kelly in last season’s QLSRA Club Championship point score.

Joining Blatch and hoping to deliver a strong performance to put them in good stead for top Queensland Title honours later in the season will be consistent front-runners Jason Rae and Jason George, along with David Van Vegchel, Andrew Sparks and Darren Baldwin, with newcomers Laurie Deegan and Scott Jukes hoping to experience an encouraging debut.
