After an 11-year hiatus from Lightning Sprints, Jason George is returning to the class this Saturday night at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway.
George took time away from Lightning Sprints in 2005, due to family commitments. After spending this season competing in AMCA Nationals, George is excited about getting back into the Lightning Sprints. He has stepped back into the class after the purchase of the Henchcraft car from Scott Genrich. The Toowoomba-based Genrich, who has been one of class’s fastest drivers in Queensland over the past decade, has recently decided to concentrate on his move into 410 Sprintcars.
There is no doubt now is the right time for the Gold Coast resident to come back to the class.
“I’m looking forward to getting back into Lightning Sprints,” commented George, who used to reside on the Central Coast of NSW, where he started in the Lightning Sprints class (then known as Litre Cars) in the early 1990s.

“I’ve seen the resurgence of the class this season and it really encouraged me to get back into it. I want to have some fun and see how I go.”
For the Queensland Lightning Sprint Racing Association, it’s great to have yet another competitor return to the class and bolster the numbers.
This Saturday night will see a total of 11 nominations, headed by NSW Champion and QLSRA Cub Championship point standings leader Kurt Wilson, along with the likes of current Australia # 3 Kirsty Kelly and defending QLSRA Club Champion Michael Gollagher.
Saturday night’s action will consist of three 10-lap heat races and then a 20-lap feature race.
