Current Australian and Queensland Lightning Sprint Champion Sean Iacono, along with fellow countrymen Scott Genrich and Jordan Binskin, are currently over in New Zealand set to take on the country’s best Lightning Sprint drivers as part of the three-round Avon Insurance Tranztaz Lightning Sprint Series.
Starting this Saturday night (January 30) with the series opener, the three Aussie drivers will be based at the Ruapuna Speedway in Christchurch on the south island, and the two other series dates are this Wednesday night (February 3) and the following Saturday night (February 6).
Iacono, who is currently 20 years of age and resides from Toowoomba in Queensland, is looking forward to competing internationally for the first time.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to come over to New Zealand and compete,” Iacono enthused.
“I can’t thank the Jackson Motorsport team enough, for providing me with such a strong car to run.
“The goal for these three race meetings is to contend for a spot in the top five – I know that it’s going to be a tough ask, especially with the quality of the opposition being so strong, which includes current New Zealand Champion Jamie Larsen.”
Fellow Australians Genrich, from Toowoomba in Queensland, and Binskin, from Sydney in NSW, are going to be running cars for local car owner and Avon Insurance Tranztaz Series organiser Allan Daly.
All three Australian drivers have not headed over to New Zealand just to make up the numbers, they are over there to stand up and be counted.
